Golden Visa holders in the UAE can now sponsor their parents for a 10-years residency. This is part of a significantly expanded Golden Visa scheme that went into effect on October 3.
Firosekhan, operation manager at Arabian Business Centre (Amer Centre – Sheikh Zayed Road), told : “We issued a 10-year Golden Visa for the parents of a 10-year visa holder. Previously, these used to be issued for a year like it is done for normal residency holders.”
A customer care agent from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) confirmed the development.
According to the official UAE Government website, an expatriate employee can sponsor parents for a year's stay by “paying a deposit as a guarantee for each parent as stipulated by the respective immigration department”.
“The deposit that needs to be made to sponsor parents does not apply to Golden Visa holders. They need to submit a document issued by their respective consulates stating that they are the sole caretakers of their parents,” said Firosekhan.
Usually, Residency Golden Visa holders in the UAE can now sponsor their parents if they earn a monthly salary of at least Dh20,000. This salary requirement, too, does not apply to Golden Visa holders, Firosekhan added.
Hundreds of thousands of Golden Visas have been issued to eligible residents since they were first rolled out. The 10-year visa costs between Dh2,800 and Dh3,800.
Six-month UAE Grace Period After Visa Cancellation, expiry applies to some categories
The UAE Grace Period After Visa Cancellation has been increased to between 60 and 180 days in most cases. The grace period, which was 30 days previously, depends on the category of the visa.
Expatriates need to either exit the country or get a new visa within the grace period after the visa is cancelled.
Typing centre agents and customer care agents at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) have confirmed the increased period is now in effect. The flexible period was announced as the country adopted sweeping reforms to its entry and residency visa scheme last month.
A typing centre agent confirmed that a client of his had the longer grace period applied after visa cancellation.
“The new visa UAE Grace Period After Visa Cancellation was applied on a visa that we cancelled recently,” said Aliyyu Shahul Hameed from Pan Gulf document clearing services. “A skilled professional got a grace period of 180 days to exit the country.”

Even though some skilled workers will get a UAE Grace Period After Visa Cancellation 180-day, their dependent have just 60, according to an ICP customer care agent.
Hameed said the flexible period that goes up to six months will be helpful to a lot of people. “Even if they lose a job, the grace period allows them enough time to get back on their feet and look for another", he noted.
However, it is not clear whether this will be applicable for people whose visas have already expired. “If someone has overstayed their visa, then it is unlikely that they will get the grace period when it is cancelled,” said Abdul Gafoor, general manager of Al Mas Businessmen Service. “We are still awaiting some clarification regarding this.”
The Advanced Visa System comprises many residency types, including the Green Visa – which allows an individual to sponsor their family for five years, as opposed to the existing system of two years. It is applicable to various individuals including skilled workers, self-employed people and freelancers.
There have also been a number of changes in visit visa permits. New visas will allow a stay of 60 days as opposed to 30 days earlier. Additionally, a five-year multi-entry tourist visa has been introduced, which does not require a sponsor.
Since the new reforms came into effect, it has also been revealed that the validity of freehold visas has been reduced to two years, as opposed to the earlier validity of three years. This is also applicable to people who apply for a visa as a partner of a mainland company and their dependants.

Application Form. It should be fully completed with correct and honest information. Print the form twice, and sign both copies at the end.
Valid Passport. It should be no older than 10 years and with a validity of at least three more months beyond the date that the applicant is planning to leave the Schengen Zone

Proof of residence permit in UAE. The residence permit must be valid for at least 3 months after the intended date of departure from the Schengen area
Travel Flight Itinerary. A document that proves you have reserved a flight ticket from UAE to the Schengen Zone and back, on the exact dates you are planning to enter and leave this area
Cover letter. Please, explain why you wish to visit Europe, specifying the countries you wish to visit, the time you will remain there, and other details.
Proof of accommodation. A document that shows where you will be accommodated throughout your stay in Schengen. This could be a hotel booking, a rent agreement, or a letter of invitation by a host at whose house you will be staying.
Proof of financial means. Evidence that you have enough money to support yourself financially throughout your stay in the Schengen. This can be one of the following:
Bank account statement – that shows you have enough money in your account for the trip. The statement shall be no older than 3 months.
Sponsorship Letter – by another person that confirms they will be financially supporting your trip to the Schengen. In order for this letter to be valid, it must be accompanied by a bank statement of the sponsor, no older than three months.

How to Apply for a Schengen Visa in UAE?
There are a few simple steps to follow when applying for a short-stay Schengen visa in the United Arab Emirates:
Check at which Embassy/Consulate you need to apply. In order to file your application at the right place, you will need to know which country should issue you a visa (if you are planning to visit more than one Schengen state). Schedule an appointment at the embassy/consulate/visa centre.

The Sultanate of Oman has recently released an official circular allowing all residents in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to enter the Sultanate of Oman without a visa.
Visa Free To Oman: The new circular from the Directorate General of Passports and Residence regarding the visa of residents of GCC countries stated
All residents of the GCC countries have the right to enter the Sultanate of Oman for all commercial professions.
It is not required for people to come from the country of residence. For example, a resident of any GCC country is not required to arrive directly from that GCC country to avail this facility. It is permitted at any time and from any destination they arrive from.
For the application of what is stated in items 1 and 2 above, it is required that the residence visa be valid in the GCC for a period of no less than three months.
The above mentioned procedures referred to are applied, taking into account the importance of following the policy of granting visas to restricted nationalities.

SMURFS VILLAGE
Now in its majestic tenth year, the world’s largest natural flower garden unveils a new attraction that kids and kids-at-heart will surely adore. Dubai Miracle Garden is proud to announce the launch of its all-new Smurfs Village for the winter season, where the world of the beloved blue creatures will be displayed as delightful landscape arrangements, in a deal brokered by IMG. A forest of mushroom houses awaits the residents and tourists alike as they explore one of the city’s most visited destinations. Based on the Belgian comics and well-acclaimed movie and television franchise, The Smurfs are small, blue creatures who live in a community of mushroom-shaped houses in their own harmonious village. The dynamic spectacle of display at Dubai Miracle Garden will feature four different areas including the Smurf Village, Smurf Activity Area, Smurf Topiaries, and another Guinness World of Record set to break, giving residents of Dubai something to truly look forward to this new season. Guests will be transported to the world of the Smurfs as they enter a village of the loveable blue creatures. FLORAL CLOCK
Time is a funny thing – we love to worry about it, and often feel like there’s never enough. While we usually look at our phone or wrist to check it, sometimes it’s nice to see it from a different vantage point. Dubai Miracle Garden offers one, in the form of a beautiful 15-metre floral clock. It’s made of real plants and flowers, whose designs we change according to the season – something particularly relevant to the shifting sands of time, daylight hours and the weather. The floral clock’s mechanical parts were brought in from the US, while our own in-house landscaping whizzes, Miracle Garden Landscaping, conceptualized its stunning design.
UMBRELLA TUNNEL
We’ve got more than one cool, colourful passage at Dubai Miracle Garden. Our Umbrella Passages are one of the most interesting, creatively designed spaces at the garden. We made the ceiling out of upside-down umbrellas, arranged in rings that are separated by bands of flowers, which have been arranged to match the colours of each umbrella section. Hanging green plants between sections of the ceiling cultivate a rainforest vibe. These passages aren’t simply made for walking, though. There are socially distanced chairs and tables that offer yet another spot to enjoy a meal from one of our many F&B options, sip on a coffee and breathe in the floral scents or even just enjoy a brief break from the walking.
LAKE PARK
Water and flowers are a wonderful combination, and you can see it come to life at our Lake Park. The scene created by the reflection of floral villas and 3D flower-laden models against the blue sky results in a sensational explosion of purple, green, red, pink, orange and blue hues of colour. It’s the perfect place to set your smartphone to pro or HDR mode and capture a fully saturated snap with your friends, family or special someone. With waterside creature models sitting next to sea travel vessels, all bound by Dubai Miracle Garden’s floral themes, the Lake Park captures every aspect of H2O and gives it a flowery makeover.
FLOATING LADY
The newest attraction at Miracle Garden, the Floating Lady lies in the air, arms outstretched without a care in the world as her long hair dangles to the ground.
Her dress is the star of the show. Its red and white petunias flow down from her horizontal position high on up above a field of flowers, giving an ethereal illusion that she has slowly been summoned forth to the sky by some mysterious ancient power.
In the background, you can see the spires of the Floral Castle in the middle distance. Could the magnificent fortress have once been this fair maiden’s home?
